In Memory of
Nicholas "Nick" Chase
1991 - 2013

Dear Chase Family,

I often think of you and wish you peace at this difficult time. You are in my daily prayers.

Nick was such a fine young man. I loved his smile. His smile always expressed kindness. I always enjoyed talking with him, when I went to visit my sons at Pitt. Andrew and Jake were so lucky to have your son as a roommate. Nick will be missed! The one comment I always heard from my sons is, he is so nice.

God bless you and may he give you peace.

Dear Chase Family,

I am so sorry to hear the news. He always will be Dear Nick to us. He was a great friend, and a very pleasent person to be around. I have great memories when he was my son's friend at Prince of Peace. My deepest sympathy for your family. I know God has a plan and Nick is with Him. He always will be in our heart. My prayers are for all of you.

I was stunned when Nancy called me late Saturday and said I have some really bad news; then went on to tell me about Nick. I just could not believe what I was hearing; so unreal. I know your faith will sustain you now and however long it takes for the pain to heal somewhat. Know that there are multitudes praying for Nick and your family. May God be with you as you travel this difficult path.

Chase Family,

I knew Nick back at Prince of Peace and we played a lot of sports together. We always had a good times playing sports and I remember that Nick was always smiling. Unfortunately we lost contact after Prince of Peace. I am very sorry for your loss. My memory of Nick will always be a happy one.

Dear Chase and Christian Families:
May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
When the shadows fall-
You do not walk alone.

In deepest sympathy on your loss!

Dear Chase Family,
Our hearts are broken even though we do not know you nor did we ever meet Nick. Our son, Ryan, considered Nick one of the best people he met at Pitt State. Ryan came to Pitt from out of state and knew no one. He describes Nick as someone who was friendly to everybody, super easy to be around, and was always upbeat and a lot of fun. Our hearts and prayers are with you now and will be with you in the days to come. Thank you for raising a wonderful young man who made such a positive difference in our son's life. God bless you; we are so sorry . Sincerely, Tom and Karen Locke

Lisa, I am so sorry for your loss. You and your family are in my prayers. In the Irish tradition, the following is a poem read at many funerals. I hope it brings you comfort when truly this situation is beyond grief.

Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.

Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.

Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.

Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?

I am but waiting for you.
For an interval.
Somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.

All is well.

Mike, Lisa, Lauren and Lindsey,
Kellen and I cannot beging to express our deepest heart felt sympathy for your loss. Even though Kellen and Nick lost touch over the years we do have fond memories of us getting together to visit and play. I still have pictures of the boys playing with their Barney dolls and wearing "Beak em Hawks" hats on their heads. You raised a wonderful young man and his life was taken way too soon. He will forever be looking down from heaven and watching over his awesome parents and lovely sisters. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. May God bless you and your family always.

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Nick for very long, but my memories of my times with him are so wonderful. I forever am grateful to Ashlea, Greyson, Marcy and Troy for allowing me the opportunity to meet such an amazing guy. That 4th of July with all the cousins was one of my favorite celebrations I have had. My heart goes out to the Chase family. Love you Nick. Always in my heart.

~ Maggie Stevens - September 17, 2013

Nick was such a great kid. I enjoyed coaching him in those early POP years, man could he shoot!, and then seeing him grow up to such a fine young man. Lisa and Mike, I am so sorry for your loss.

Such fond memories of your sweet family right next door. Nick and how handsome he was certainly did not go unnoticed by my girls! I Know at least a little of what you are going through, these are dark days for you, lean not on your own understanding.I prayed and asked God if my brother Chris and Nick could meet. Praying for your whole family...

~ The VanLoos - September 17, 2013

Dear Mike, Lisa Marie, Lindsey, & Lauren,

Our hearts are broken with yours.

I remember sharing the excitement of being pregnant at the same time, talking on the phone after Leah arrived, and waiting anxiously to hear from you after Nick made his appearance. I love you dear friend and will continue to pray in the days and weeks to come. We are here if you need us. Miles may separate us but we are only a phone call or text away.

Lisa, Mike and family -
I remember when you guys lived across the street, as we watched each other's children grow. I can't imagine the pain you are going through, it's beyond words. I send you hugs and love, and hope that memories give you comfort.

~ Laura Gagliano - September 16, 2013

Lisa and Mike,
In some ways it seems like just yesterday that Nicholas, Melissa, Tyler, and the whole gang were in Daycare together at Rebecca's. Even though it has been 20 years, and the kids were only 2, Melissa remembers Nicholas. He was such a happy kid and pretty laid back even as a toddler. Doug, Melissa, Kyle and I are so shocked and saddened by your loss of sweet, sweet Nick. You and your entire family are in all of our prayers for healing and peace.

Mike, Lisa, Lindsey & Lauren, We are praying that your heavy hearts will heal from the awful pain you are going through. Remember that you will be reunited with Nick someday in Heaven. Life is so unfair and we cannot help to ask "why?". There is no easy explanation but you have to believe that God, who loves Nick more than anyone, has a purpose. We pray you take comfort in the fact that Nick is feeling total, complete happiness in the arms of his Father. Be grateful for the wonderful years the Lord lent him to you. We know you are. Our thoughts and prayers will be forever with the Chase family.
